This past month Austin had the chance to take tennis lessons from our neighbor, Brigitte. He was so excited to start lessons. We got him a racquet and he practiced in the driveway, hitting the ball back and forth.
There was one day he about killed me, asking me to play every waking moment of the day- every time I stopped to take a breath, he would say, "Mom you want to come and play tennis in the driveway?" I had to remind myself that I only have a few more years left (most likely) that he will be begging me to come and play with him! So I did my best!
I was glad that he was willing to try something new. I doubt he'll become a tennis pro or play for the rest of his life, but he enjoyed it and he got out and enjoyed some gorgeous summer mornings with friends.His soccer pal, Will, also took lessons at the same time. They had a fun time playing together.Here they are, hamming it up, when the teacher tells them to take their stance, ready for the ball. They are such boys!
Too bad tennis is already over- it only lasted a month. Now what?!?

Carly loves tennis but it our little community it only last for a short amount of time too. A couple of years ago when she decided she wanted to play I picked up a raquet for the first time. So now we can play a little together which I think is a wonderful thing and as she moves toward being a teenager and I move toward being old(er) she will start beating the mess out of me but I think it will be a good opportunity for us to do something together.
I've been wanting to buy rackets for both me and my youngest so we could play. She decided she liked it when we went to a girl scout weekend together. I can't play but I suppose we could just hit the ball around together for something to do together.
It's so cool that he can take lessons right down the street from the house! I've never thought about having the kids take tennis lessons before, but if I had a neighbor teaching it I probably would.
