This past weekend was filled with revelation and upliftment. I was very much looking forward to our semi-annual LDS General Conference. I feel so spoiled living here in Utah because it's on one of the main stations (owned by the church) so I get to sit in the comfort of my house and relax while listening to the enlightened leaders of our faith.

I set up the kids' table and got our conference packets printed out bright and early-and I do mean early! Since I had a 10 mile run scheduled, I had to be up around 6:30 in order to eat some breakfast and get things ready. The weather was like a blizzard outside so I headed to the rec center with my friend, Kaylyn, and we ran there- sans wind, hills, and snow. It was so much nicer than some of the weather we've endured this winter. Anyway, I rolled in the door about 9:45, barely enough time to get the kids situated and myself ready to listen.

I had their table set with crayons and markers, coloring pages, mazes and wordsearches, etc. We also had our trusty old BINGO ready to go, along with a pile of Cheerios to mark with.

Another addition this year was the cute snack idea found on one of the Sugardoodle packets. It went over HUGE with my kids. Can I emphasize HUGE enough? They loved it. It kept them going for nearly all two hours, and I am including Ashley in this one. Major thumbs up.

Here's our snack tray and list of "keywords". We refilled the tray for the later sessions, and changed the snacks and words for the next day's sessions, just for variety. Let me tell you, it still worked. I couldn't believe it. This is definitely a tradition we'll be keeping every conference. They had to listen closely to catch those magic words- it worked like a charm.



So I'm not going to cover all my favorite highlights in this post, that will have to wait for another time. I'll just say that I enjoyed it very much and felt a lot of enlightenment, peace, and hope listening to the words of those who spoke.
