Ok, there was nothing freaky about my day... it just came into mind as I typed. I didn't accomplish anything of note today, so maybe that is freaky. I didn't do a thing, really. Have you ever gone through a day and asked yourself,"What the heck did I do all day?" This is one of those days that my husband thinks is typical. He always makes comments like I sit and watch Oprah and eat chocolate all day. Ok, maybe the chocolate part... but not Oprah. I am usually doing 4 loads of laundry (I seriously do at least 1-2 loads per day). I sweep the floor about 10 times, clean, make calls, drive to soccer, swimming, etc. Not today.
I got up and didn't have to rush b/c Austin is still on Easter break (until next Tuesday, Monday is one of those teacher prep days. C'mon, what a joke!) Olivia didn't have to be to preschool until about 8:30. It is so nice to just get up slowly and be lazy. I actually finished reading the Book of Mormon today. This morning, before breakfast. Unheard of. I realized recently that I have never counted how many times I have read it. I thought of it when I read in Spencer W. Kimball's book that he read it over 70 times, at the time he was quoted. Wow. I am sure it's probably about a dozen times in my life, but I guess it's too late to count now. It felt good. I guess I should count that as something I accomplished today!

Austin, Ashley, and I dropped Olivia off at preschool and headed for the beach at Burleigh. It was such a nice morning, not too hot to walk anymore, now that it's Fall. Austin brought his bike and Ashley was in the stoller. I was so impressed; Austin rode the whole time along side of me, from the north end to the south, 4K total. We stopped in the middle and bought a roll and juice at the bakery across the street. Also went to the bulk health food shop to get Austin some dried papaya. He loves it. Loves eating it and loves to spell it, along with everything else lately. I am now called "M-O-M". I love that he is getting big enough to do these things with me. I could tell he really liked the time we spent together and felt really big to be riding along side me.
After we got home, I ended up talking on the phone half the day! I spoke with Rebekah (the other counselor in the RS Presidency) and I spoke with Debbie, who lives up the street. Her son invited Austin over for a swim and to play. He was there for a few hours and Ashley was sleeping, so then I called my parents. It was so nice to talk to them. I guess I didn't realize that I was missing them but their voices were just comforting for some reason. My dad and I were talking for a little while then I heard my mom come home, in the background. She sounded so happy to hear it was me on the phone. It made me feel loved. About an hour or so later, I finally got off the phone. Thanks Mom and Pop for loving me and spending time talking with me. Maybe this is one of my love languages. Is there one for talking on the phone? No, I didn't think so. Maybe that counts as quality time? I need to read that book.
By the time all that talking was done, it was after 3 and time to get Olivia and Austin. Austin ended up bringing a friend home from James' house (long story) so with Olivia home as well it got pretty loud. Ashley loves the chaos and was happy to join in and follow the kids around the house. I was happy that they were occupied. I shopped online at Oriental Trading for some Princess paraphernalia for Olivia's upcoming 4th birthday party (our pickins' are slim around here). That website is amazing! Mom is nice enough to help me out with this order. I can't wait to get the cute little pink bags that say "Princess" on them and the princess set for each guest- a tiara, wand, and ribbon tutu. ($4.95 for a set of 3) Also got a set of rainbow bracelets. I could have gone crazy, but I stopped at that since I can get princess plates and other party stuff here. By this time, it was 5:30 and I had to quickly make some grilled cheese for the kids' dinner, get Elliott home, and get to our friends' house for dessert. Luckily, Jared arrived in from Port MacQuarie just in time, about 6pm.
Rachel and Ben are friends in our ward. They also invited Andrew & Mala, Don & Elise over for dessert. Rachel has an incredible ice cream machine. It's imported from Italy, through America, through Japan. Funny story. It's not your average Utah homemade ice cream. Oh no. This thing is stainless steel and the size of a microwave. One is Cinnamon Ice Cream- Jill you would be glad to know). Rachel made Mixed berry, Chocolate Chip cookie dough, Chocolate ice cream with chocolate Cake, and something else. I can't remember b/c I couldn't eat anymore after trying the first 3! It was so good. Did I mention it was so good? We had an early dessert b/c all of us invited, including them, have children under the age of 14 months (Ashley is the oldest). After an hour and a half, all of them were ready to go home and get to bed. It was a nice ending to a very lazy, somewhat freaky, Friday.

mmm, I've never tried coffee Heath bar, but it sure does sound good. And I do like cinnamon ice cream. I once had a friend who had an ice cream maker like that -- I would like to have one, but it would be pretty dangerous.
I'd say finishing the Book of Mormon is definitely an accomplishment!
I would eat any of those but peanut butter cup is my favorite. SOunds like a fun day to me.
I love days like those...so unstressful. Your walk on the beach sounds so nice, especially since the kids were good!
As for the ice cream, my favorite B&J is called "Chubby Hubby". It't not on the list, but it is vanilla ice cream, mixed with fudge stripes and peanut butter filled pretzels.
I love days that start off slow and you can just take your time. Though, you say you got nothing accomplished taking kids to the beach and finishing the book of mormon sounds like something to me.
It's nice you were able to spend time talking with your parents. I think talking on the phone would be apart of quality time. Too bad I'm not a huge phone talker because I am certainly a QT kind of gal.

And my favorite Ben and Jerry's isn't on the list. Pistachio Pistachio. It is so good! It is white so it throws you off but the taste is so good. I haven't had it forever.
For having done nothing, that's an awfully long list of things done :). I am so boring that I like vanilla ice cream and nothing will be better than plain vanilla (except vanilla bean or french vanilla)? I have no idea how many times I've finished the Book of Mormon, but it's always bittersweet to get to the end. It ends on a rather melancholy note and you feel somber and pensive (which is good, it puts you in the mood to pray).

I love Ben & Jerry's ice cream so your party sounds fun, but some of those flavors are questionable to me. I do enjoy their Heath flavor, but not with coffee flavor.
I don't think your love language is Quality Time, but I'm interested in finding it out.
