Today was Ashley's big day. She finally walked on her own. She has been so close for so long... at least a month. Before now she has taken 2 or 3 steps on her own but not really walked across the room or anything.
She was SO excited. You could tell that she knew she had accomplished something big. She had a huge smile on her face and she couldn't get enough of it. She kept walking back and forth all over the room. She was practically charging ahead she was so fired up about it. We bribed her with a small craft paint that she was playing with and she just kept going after it.
We have been practicing with her a little but we just kept thinking it will happen when she's ready, so we didn't do it too much. Olivia has been doing some serious "walk training" however. Every day, a million times a day, she takes Ashley's hands and walks her down the hall, around the house, and to my dismay, down the two tile steps in the living room. This has resulted in one small disaster; luckily when Olivia 'dropped' Ashley, it was past the tile and close enough to the carpet that Ashley went head first into the couch. Yes, it's funny that I am actually thankful for that, isn't it? If you could see how close Olivia takes Ashley to the edge of disaster you would cringe. You would gasp. You might even shriek.
Anyway, we are so happy for Ashley today. It's so fun to see her reach these milestones and to share in those moments. I will always remember where we were and what she was wearing the day that she walked on her own for the first time. It was great to see how excited Austin and Olivia were too. I had to keep telling them to stay back and let her walk. They just wanted to hug her and clap for her and be a part of it. As soon as Jared got home from work we had to show him. It's funny how they just decide that they are going to do it one day and that's it. Just had to share the news for my Mom and family back home.

So cute that you really captured her excitement in the photos. How old is she now? Is she walking early or is time just zooming by and she's older than I think?
Robyn she looks so adorable walking and you can sure see her excitement. It's great you captured that moment with your camera. I just love it when they start walking. To me it makes a huge difference.

That's so exciting! She is so cute. I'm so glad to see these pictures of her and to know about it when it happened. Does your camera take video? I'd like to see her in action. Congrats!
My camera doesn't do video... at least that I know about. I did use my video camera to document as well, but I don't know how to transfer it all on my computer yet (I just got it for Christmas). If anyone knows, please tell me how to do it. It's a Sony Handycam. Jared read the manual yesterday. If I get it done, I can use that "egg" thingamajigga to put it on my blog.
That picture with her hands in the air is so cute!! How fun! I think it's cute how happy she is about it.
I wouldn't cringe or shriek about what Olivia does b/c my Clayton is SO rough with Jack. It really drives me nuts. I'm starting to try to get Jack to take steps. He's still at the 2-3 little baby steps on his own stage.
How exciting! I love the look on her face. You really can tell that she knows exactly what is going on and is so excited about it. She is such a cutie.
As for the camera, there should be a USB cord to connect to your computer. When you are logged in to videoegg, there is a "button" to capture the video right from the camera. (I hope it works because it would be so fun to see the video!)

Rob, I'm so glad to finally get on your blog. It's exciting to see the actual photos of her first "walk" across a room. I can see she's aware that she did something really big. Thanks for the descriptions and sharing it all with us!
