I met up with the Provo girls last week to check out the Beehive Bazaar. It's a craft show that they put on a few times a year. It's usually a lot of fun- you can find handmade cards, jewelry, belts, hats, goodies, magnets, hair clips, wall art... you name it. I just got a few hair things- a couple of head bands and some bobby pins with covered buttons.
The thing is, we went on the first night and it was PACKED! I'm sure there were all kinds of fire codes being violated in there. Shauna got a little claustrophobic at one point- I thought we were going to have to get her out of there. We could barely move. We were all sweltering in our winter coats and scarves. By the time we got in line (which took at least a 1/2 hour alone to check out) they were passing out cool water for people. By the way, I have no idea who the people are in this photo below- I was trying to capture the sheer madness and the crowd.
After the craft show we had to find a place to chat and get something to eat (of course) but what can you find in Provo at 11 pm. It's not good... Denny's. Yup, Denny's. What can you do when you're desperate?! We ended up having an interesting hostess/host (?) walk us in and seat us right next to the door despite my protests. We were blasted with freezing cold winds every time someone went in or out. Classy. Gotta love Denny's.
Being at Denny's reminded me of being a freshman at BYU. My roommates and I were usually there around 2 or 3 am. I always ordered the Harvest Pancakes. (Yes, I am a dork) but I loved them. They were these whole grain/wheaty pancakes topped with an apple compote-sort of thing- and chopped walnuts. Delicious. Of course all the girls had to make fun of me, as if it's a totally healthy thing to get. But I assure you, just cause there's some grains in there, it's not low cal or low fat! Unfortunately, it's been changed since (ahem) I was a freshman, which wasn't THAT long ago, right? Ok, over a decade ago. Plus almost another decade (when did I get so old?!)
As we finished our food, one of us (I won't' mention any names) was complaining about heartburn and GAS... and even whipped out the GAS-X right there at the table! I wish I could reveal who that certain individual is, but I'm sworn to secrecy.

Hey, those hanging treats were made and sold by my blogging friend Natalie!
Denny's has good stuff too!
haha. Can I make a guess at who the Gas culprit is? I have an idea. ;) I miss you group of girls. I only wish we did more fun things like this when I was there....or maybe you guys did and I just was never invited Ü
Looks like you guys had a blast.
Oh I did some serious chuckling while i was reading this! It was such a fun night! I think that if anyone wasn't claustrophobic before the BB they are now. I am super happy with my purchases too.
The only problem is that I was sooo tired the next morning 1:30 is too late for an old lady like me!
Sounds great! Wish I could have been there. Well for all of it but the nameless gassy friend. Good money is on Shauna. :)
Oh dear, I think I might have met with that host/hostess at a Denny's in Bountiful once. Strangely enough, it reminded me of getting my hair cut in Thailand.
I wish they had crafty things like that here!
Jamie, I was explaining to the girls what a "fa'afafine" is... if that gives you any indication as to the unique nature of this particular host/hostess.
