Another Victory

You would think we'd had enough excitement around here with the marathon this past weekend, but actually we had another VERY important event take place... the official potty training of Ashley! No more diapers for my little girl. Can you believe it?! She had some really good days last week, staying totally dry, even during naps! Her reward of choice is gum (thus her current obsession) so she went through a whole pack last week. I figure I will bribe her with whatever it takes. Whatever works. We bribed Olivia with a McD's ice cream cone every day that she stayed dry, until she was trained. It only took a week! Maybe I should write a book. Ha ha. It's like SuperSize Me: The Potty Training edition.

The first real day that I took Ashley out with no diaper was on Friday. I actually ventured to Costco, can you believe the risk I took? I brought a change of clothes just in case, but I figured why not give it a try? She did great and stayed dry the whole outing. While I was at Costco I picked up a box of Pull-Ups, since I thought we're still in the early stages and I probably need to buy them for going out and night time. I didn't buy them for my other two, so I am not sure why I had it in my head that I needed Pull-Ups. I write this now b/c since I got them, I realized how silly they are. If she's doing well in undies and that is the ultimate goal, then why condition her to wear these cute diapers (let's face it, they don't look or feel like undies) yet totally confuse her by telling her that she has to keep them dry? It doesn't make sense to me and apparently to Ashley either b/c she refused to wear the Pull-Ups on Sunday as we got ready for church. I was still leery about going out for that long, especially when she would be away from me in the nursery for 2 hours. Oh, ye of little faith! She wore undies and stayed dry the whole time. She also wore undies to bed, for the 2nd time, and stayed totally dry all night long.

So today was kind of the celebration, it's "official" day. I took her to Target and let her choose some new undies. She was very excited and totally overwhelmed with the choices. She went directly for the Princess pack, no surprise there. But when I opened the snaps on the package and sized them up I knew they'd be huge, even though they said 2T-3T. I don't know why they don't make them smaller. I know some kids who are trained by 20 months. What do they wear? Anyway, we settled on some Ariel undies that didn't look too big and she was overjoyed. The only problem is they are totally cut like Granny pants and practically cover her belly button. Oh well. She's happy. Don't you love the reverse view? I always love taking a tiny little tushy photo but couldn't resist when I saw the big wedgie! So funny. I hope no one is offended.

Jared took her out after dinner for a special treat. She chose a Krispy Kreme donut (they just went to Maverick). The other kids were so jealous and kept trying to beg for bites of her donut. We were emphatic, however, that this was Ashley's special day and they couldn't share the donut or go along with Dad and Ashley to get the treat.

I am so happy about the prospect of not changing anymore diapers, I think I need to celebrate too. Maybe I should go back to the Cheesecake Factory for another slice of Tiramisu Cheesecake. Especially since Jared raided the fridge and ate like 1/2 of my special "I finished a marathon" slice last night. It was my reward and I was saving it! He said I should have put a note on it. Ugh. He's lucky I didn't hurt him. He doesn't know what he's messing with.

So here's to NO MORE DIAPERS! WOO HOO! YAY ASHLEY!!!

You sound like an expert! NO more diapers WOO HOO! Going to Costco so soon was VERY brave indeed. What a good girl. Adorable too. Love the wedgy picture! When I potty trained my twins one of the hardest things was taking them to the bathroom every few minutes every where we went. I mean if one has to go every 10 minutes and the other is on a different 10 minute schedule you spend more time in bathrooms than stores. So its better not to leave ever. UGH!

Earlier this year, Alan ate my last half of cheesecake from the cheese cake factory. He won't do that to me again. Ha ha.

It is a happy day! Cangrats to Ashley and you! I love the bummy pic -- you and Chantel seem to have a knack for those shots!

So what are you going to do with all the money you save?

I think every child you potty train should be celebrated- it is such an accomplishment for you and her! No more diapers-wow. I hope by this time next year I can exclaim the same thing!

I can't believe he ate your cheesecake. That just isn't right...and in fact, so very wrong.

Me again....I just have to mention that today at Baby Gap I saw a "sprinkle donut" t-shirt and thought of Ashley and her tickled little face. So cute.
