- you have to travel late at night with 3 small children
- one child vomits on the flight
- your flight arrives late
- you can't find the right terminal for next flight
- you miss your connecting flight (thanks to apathetic airline employees who don't try to help you)
- you have to stay in a hotel overnight in a strange city (thus increasing cost of your trip)
- another child vomits during the night in the same bed you are sleeping in
- your baby won't sleep
- you haven't seen your husband for 3 weeks and because of this fiasco and now you won't see him for another week due to a business trip (also missing your anniversary)
- you have no baggage, therefore no clean clothing, extra diapers, makeup, etc.
WE'RE STUCK IN LOS ANGELES! HELP ME PLEASE! It's like a bad nightmare or a horrible, depressing movie. Someone make it stop. The only good part of this whole story is that Jared's best friend Jeff lives in Thousand Oaks and he has come to our rescue. We are now at his house, showering, resting, etc. and he will take us to the airport tonight where we will hopefully make our flight... if the rude Qantas people haven't decided to CLOSE the flight an hour before take off (which is what they did last night). Wish us luck. We really really really need it. Can anyone top this scenario?
PS Jill, I know this further deters you from flying internationally or with children. I hope your trip to Paris is nothing like this.

I'm so sorry you're in such an awful situation, but isn't it better to have sick kids on the ground than in the air?? I'm sorry you and Jared won't be overlapping, but now at least you can unpack your suitcases without him scrutinizing all your purchases.
Thank heaven Jeff was so good to you guys and let you go hang out at his house today. I hope everyone is feeling better and that the rest of the flight home won't be hellish.
I definitely hate the thought of experiencing any of this and really never want to leave home.
That is truly travel HELL. I had a feeling you might have kids throwing up on the way home when I heard that Jill's clan had gotten it too. We had that flu last weekend, and it's just crazy contagious. I am SO sorry!!! Best wishes for a better last leg.
oh robyn i am so sorry you are going through this...wished i had read it sooner so i could go help...i would have been at LAX to pick you up immediately! Well your kids were adorable and alexei liked playing with them. hopefully tonight everything will be okay and your flight will be peaceful (nighttime...sleep...hopefully).
I couldn't help but reading after Jill linked you on her post today. So sorry to hear about your trip. That is really terrible. Thank goodness for friends right? Hope the rest of your travels run smoothly. Have a safe flight.
OMG! I am so sorry. You are right it couldn't have been any worse. I'm glad that you had connections in LA to help you. I really hope the rest of the journey home was much much better.
Yep, that sounds like hell alright. No baggage? No clean clothes? No DIAPERS?? I feared the worst when you were leaving and your kids were still sick. This is one of those things that you will look back on and wonder how you even survived it... thank goodness it's over now!
