It's funny that Ashley is rolling around everywhere. This is normal for a 5 month old baby, right? It's just that she is so small (still wearing 0-3 mo clothing and about 11 lbs) that I forget her actual age. She is all over the place lately. I have to start her in the very middle of the room b/c she will run into walls and furniture if I don't. She still tends to get stuck against the wall or the couch, but those aren't so dangerous. She actually has started pulling her little knees under her tummy like an army crawl. I am so amazed by it. You'd think this would be old news after watching two other children go through it, but it's just as exciting to me. I just love seeing her curiosity and her energy. She is such a little doll. Such a good girl. She really loves Lori and just breaks into a smile as soon as Lori looks at her. I love that she is so easy going and is happy to have anyone hold her. I love that she kicks her legs when she sees her bottle coming. I love that she has gorgeous blue eyes like her siblings. It's hard to think that this might be our last (sorry Mom). I keep thinking to myself, "Should I be approaching parenting differently for her? Am I cherishing every little moment? Am I fully enjoying her babyhood?" I saw the most adorable little dress in the store the other day. It was sort of a peasant style with short puffy sleeves and a large paisley pattern on it in pinks, oranges and yellows. I thought to myself, "Thirty dollars is a lot for such a tiny dress, but will I ever have the chance to buy such a gorgeous little thing again?" I am still undecided on the dress. As I am typing this, Ashley is now around the corner and heading towards the bedrooms- how does she move so fast? I am not ready to babyproof my house and neither are Austin and Olivia, for that matter. I have been trying to train them now by saying, "You need to pick up those little pieces", etc. but I know that when the time comes she is going to find all kinds of little toys and bits on the floor. I guess I will have to adopt Jill's love of vacuuming every day. Yuck. I am not such a lover of the pastime.
Lori only has one more month here! I can't believe it is going so fast. This week the following is on our agenda: Dinner at Wallaby's (an old pub style restaurant where Jared's parents eat every Wed nite), library, Q1 building in Southport (it's taller than the Eiffel Tower), Sea World, Surfer's Paradise night market (hopefully better than Surfer's during the day). That's about it for this week. We plan to do a trip up to Noosa (north of Brisbane), Australia Zoo (where Steve Irwin does shows), Brisbane city, Warner Bros Movie World or Dreamworld, whale watching (if we still have money left), and massages at Lakeview Retreat (the place I went to at the beg of June). My life will be so boring when she leaves. Do any of you live in places that people come to visit often? If so, what's the best thing to do where you live?

Ashley is so cute! I can't believe she's mobile already...she just got here. Wow, that 5 months went fast.
I keep going back to the pictures of Ashley, now SIX months old (well in a week or so)and just want to hold and kiss her so badly!
Thanks for the update on her amazing progress, Rob. You may be thinking she's your last, but don't "tie any knots" yet. You don't ever want to make that decision until your last is at least five years old. Just think of the joy and beauty she brings into your home. Down the road you may be excited to have a wee one again!
I'm right there with you. Jack is mobile as of this week, and it's so fun to see but scary at the same time. I'm worried about him choking on little odds and ends all the time. No more just happily sitting in the bouncer.
Yes, I live in the O.C. (Orange County, California) so we are the place of tourists coming to Disneyland and Newport Beach. We go both places often, but I rarely venture up to L.A. Now that we have a temple here we really don't head that way, except maybe to visit the Long Beach Aquarium which is a pretty fun outing. The other direction down to San Diego is Sea World and Lego Land, but we've decided both are a big headache until our kids are a bit older! We rarely get visitors but I suspect as my friends' kids get older we'll be getting more visits.
Ashley is such a beautiful baby. I know what you mean about wanting to buy all those darling dresses!
It is so fun when you have visitors to show around and you have all kinds of fun outings. That never happens to me here, of course, but it used to in Seattle. It sounds like you guys are having so much fun!
Ashley is so cute and so tiny! I can't believe she is already rolling around. Looks like she is going to be really active. Thank heavens she is so good natured, that will make a good balance.
As for visitors here, we live 45 min. from Hershey, 45 minutes from Gettysburg, 30 minutes from Lancaster (Amish country), 2 hours from Washington DC and 3 hours from New York City. There is a lot to do here tourist-wise. One thing I like to do is take family/friends to Lancaster and have them try a whoopie pie. (FYI, Robyn, they do make pumpkin whoopie pies, too. :o)
She is so adorable. I certainly hate missing these stages with her and seeing her grow. It is hard to believe it's been 5 months. I hate to think when I do meet her I will be so weird stranger to her.
