Ashley is so lucky to be surrounded by little girls her age on our street! Five of us mothers take turns just once a week, on Tuesday, for about 1 1/2 hours. We have a letter of the day and try to educate them a little and let them play too. The girls seem to have a lot of fun and get along very well. Ashley's BFF is Ellie. Every single day they want to play together for about 8 hours. Even if they've had a mega- play date, like 4 hours long, Ashley still asks later on that day, "Can I play with Ellie?" And if I say no, she says, "But it's been SO long since I played with her!" as if the 2 hour interim is just killing her. She cracks me up!
Today all the girls came to our house for Joy School. The letter of the day was "N" so we practiced making N's on paper and tracing the letter with our finger. We talked about things that start with N, like nest, nurse, numbers, etc.
Our snack was a little chocolate peanut butter nest with jelly bean eggs and a Peep for the bird. Needless to say, it went over BIG with the girls. And me too... I had a few nests myself! They are tasty! The recipe was so easy: Mix 3 cups chow mein noodles and 1 1/2 c. Rice Krispies in a bowl. Melt 12 oz chocolate chips for 1 minute in the microwave. Add 1/3 c. peanut butter, stir and microwave again for another 1-2 minutes. When the mix is smooth, pour over the dry stuff and blend well. Scoop into muffin cups and press jelly bean eggs into the nest. Put in fridge or freezer to cool/harden. Add a Peep and serve!
We talked about how birds build nests and what they use. Then, we went outside and searched for bird nests, but there were none to be found! We talked about birds and how the babies are born in eggs, etc.
It was a beautiful day!
We're glad we live near these sweet girls...

Having close friends make such a difference. It's nice when they are able to run outside and have friends to play with without having to drive anyone around.
