R&R

I don't have a photo for this post unless you want to see another box of Kleenex, Vaporub, and antibiotics. I just finished my 2nd round of antibiotics yesterday and my situation is no better. It's possibly worse. Apparently I have contracted some type of resistant virus or mutant bacteria and it's never going away! I have moved on to other remedies now. I am taking Apple Cider vinegar a few times a day, an herbal remedy, and colloidal silver. We'll see if the traditional medicine or the herbal medicine wins the battle...

So today I am trying to rest and relax because tomorrow is the Hobble Creek Half Marathon and I want to have a good run! It's supposed to be a great course. Jared is also running, as well as my two training friends, Kami and Heather. We haven't been worried about it at all since we're training for a marathon. It's just changed our perspective- 13 miles now feels like a mid-length run, in contrast to the 20 miles we ran 2 weeks ago. So all this time I haven't been nervous at all, in fact I've been looking forward to this run b/c I knew it wouldn't be hard for us (since we've prepared for it). But with this stupid sinus infection I am now feeling nervous! I just hope and pray I can get some sleep tonight and I'm not continually waking up to blow my nose and get a drink (because I can only breathe through my mouth). Jared thinks I should crack out the NyQuil but I am worried that it will make me groggy and sluggish in the morning. We have to leave the house at 4:30 am! I guess it might wear off by 7 am when the race starts...

Ok, I know that you are all sick of hearing about this, and believe me, I AM TOO! I just cannot believe that it won't go away. Oh well, I will load up my running belt with tissues instead of gels and gu, and hope that 10 or 12 will get me through the race. Do you think they make running belts for a box of Kleenex? Yeah, me neither. I doubt they have tissues at the aid stations either. Oh, and more horrible news... headphones are banned at this race! That's just wrong!

Happy Birthday to Heidi tomorrow! Oh, and Happy Birthday yesterday to Chantel! Hope you both celebrate big.

I can't believe you're still sick! What a nightmare. I think you should take the Nyquil tonight, just make sure you go to bed early.

I'm impressed and a little disturbed that a 13 mile run is now considered a mid-distance race. Wow, you're a machine!

I can't imagine getting up at 4:30 to go run 13 miles...I'm such a slacker.

I am so sorry!! I hope that you can get better soon. That has got to be so rough.
I would be careful taking cold medicine the night before or even before a run. Our friend did that last year before a 10-miler race and he ended up blacking out half-way through. Something in cold medicine keeps your body from sweating and he ended up overheating. I don't want to freak you out, but I just wanted to let you know!
GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Wow Robyn I hope something works -- Cord loves colloidal silver. He uses the nasal spay and it has helped him but I wonder if a sinus infection is really what you have -- it's so weird that it wont go away after all this time and medication.

Good luck on the run tomorrow it should be beautiful!

SEriously!!! Still sick!?!? I am so sorry. You must be miserable. Actually, you must be truly sick to even consider running a half marathon while you are not feeling well! :) I hope the run goes well and you are able to get some rest and get better.
(I agree with Heidi -- I wonder if you have something else since it won't go away... hmmmmm...)

I can't imagine running 13 miles under the best of circumstances, but with a sinus infection?? Good luck to you, Robyn. Those infections can be really difficult to get rid of.

And why no headphones? I never understand that. It seems like a handicap of sorts.
